This article is taken off another website I write for. The references may be for artists, writers and creative professionals but the concepts are the same. We start winning when we start moving. Enjoy!
How do you get the momentum moving in your business?
Start creating the action that leads to small wins.
Win some small ones. Then keep going and achieve the medium goals.
You got it. More action. Small additions to your portfolio, store, gallery or book.
Make goals and work towards them. Keep the right attitude. Go ahead and be audacious. So you want to write a cookbook based off your world travels by the end of the year? Great! But first develop an outline of everything you need to do, write it out and figure out how long it will take. Start at the end and write your way to the beginning.
Make a goal, write out a simple plan and start doing something.
Todd Henry, author of The Accidental Creative states that creativity happens ONLY when we start moving and acting. If you don’t start moving, creativity and inspiration will not come.
You don’t need more motivation, inspiration or a better idea.
You need to get going.
Open the Etsy shop and put in a photograph of your one item. Your goal can be to add another new item every week.
What happens if you don’t get an item in the shop one week? Are you an abominable failure? I think not. I think you are human. Get up, move on and keep going.
One day you are going to look up. There will be 20 items in the Etsy shop. 100 of your pictures will be in the stock photography sites. The line of wedding stationary will be ready for sales. The manuscript will be written. The book proposal will be in the mail. The store will be open.
It doesn’t happen all of a sudden. It happens one action at a time, one day at a time, one decision at a time.
Decide to start today.
